Looks like 2028 will be the end for me. Switch has fake game carts. MS has ads everywhere. Now PS will have no discs. It appears from 2028 on, I’ll only be able to play something I can buy on GOG, or be confident I can crack.
Time to sunset console gaming. So very sad. Thank you to everybody who buys digital. This is your fault.

Ah, there it is.
No, 2028 isn't your "last year of gaming".
I agree this is a gross move by Sony but your hyperbole irritates me.
Thankfully old consoles and emulators exist. The console modding community will grow to keep old hardware alive and thriving. XBC is a thing. New things will sprout up. A better title would be "I'm not getting a PS6".
You'll still be gaming. I will too.

It will be the exception. Only what comes to Mac.

At the age of 44, I've started playing D&D with my buddies I game with. We all meet once a month and it's been a blast.
I also have an OG Xbox with some soft mods full of classic games. My two boys get excited when I bust it out. All the coin op games from 80s-90s, hit the white button to add a quarter, unlimited lives...it's awesome.
Now I'm looking forward to the capability to play my games anywhere I go, without a console. You can already do that with the right Xbox Gamepass subscription.
It can all co-exist man. Take a chill pill and game with us you grumpy fart. :P

I can't be part of the problem, sorry. But I'll join your D&D group.

Are you telling me the games you play on your mac you buy on a disc?
And I say this as someone who has been buying physical switch games (never Game Key cards), xbox, and ps5 games.

I don't like this, but looking at it from the other end: I'm nearing retirement. I've got rooms full of physical media I've been collecting for 50 years, including games. (The most common things I buy now are books and 4K movies, but if I never bought anything else, I've got enough to keep me busy until I die.) I haven't bought games on disc for a while, and part of my assumption is that they all have patches and probably won't work without them, so what is the difference?
I do worry about future support. That's a real issue. Talk of Xbox's demise has me concerned. I had Xbox Gold from the beginning and rarely did I turn down a free game, but I often picked up old licenses for hits when they got really cheap. How will I access those? I better be part of the class action suit.

No, you can't buy computer games on a disc anymore. I buy them from GOG or in certain cases Apple's App store. Weirdly, it actually seems like the Mac App store doesn't have DRM because I've copied my games around with no issue (although that could be on a per game basis, I don't know).

Maybe he is. But I don’t think so. Sony just removed 500 movies from their service. Even you bought them, you can no longer access them. They either just did or are shutting down the Playstation 3 store. Anyone who thinks they’re going to have access to their digital games forever is a fool. Whether that’s a real issue or not is up to you.
I hit digitally because it’s convenient and I don’t want shelves full of old games I’ll never touch again. But I don’t think I’ll have those digital games forever either.

Money is not a concern. Heck, if they had simply charged a premium for physical discs I would have paid.

My point was that proclaiming 2028 as your "last year of gaming" is quite the nuclear option.

1. Did it give you a field to explain your "other" choice?
1A. If yes, what did you say?
2. What are your thoughts on the rumors of Xbox developing a "disc to digital" feature?
3. Thunder is caused by lightning vs thunder IS lightning. What say you?

Thunder AND lightning are the only thing that designate the visual and audio aspects as different entities, even though they are the same act.
You see and hear a gunshot. See and hear an explosion. Yet we see lightning and hear thunder.
As a side annoyance, nobody every says "It's lightninging out"

Also Cody hates modern gaming and Playstation.
Also also, I think it's lame that Dominoes Pizza socials are constantly slamming Sony. It's kind of funny when non-related corporations beef on social media, but for my money, Dominoes pizza isn't good enough to be running such game.
Dominos is the worst chain pizza on the fucking planet. Their crust is indistinguishable from the soggy ass box the pizza comes in. Probably tastes worse, too.

I legit don’t understand how their marketing inception seems to work so well. I can’t stand their pizzas and will absolutely go out of my way to get pizza from elsewhere regardless of price or convenience.

Pizza has to be graded on a sliding scale.
You can't directly compare a $5 Hot-n-Ready to the $25 wood fired neopolitan. It's a price/product ratio.
For those that don't know, in the grab and go game...don't sleep on Casey's gas station pizza. Especially their breakfast pizza. Fire.
I have, although it’s been a long time. I’d eat Little Ceasar’s, at least. I straight up skip dinner if Dominos is the only thing available.
They’ve improved. Papa John’s has gone downhill. Don’t care for Little Caesar’s or Jets.
The best pizza in my general area: Bill’s in Greensboro. Nancy’s in Raleigh.

Silly Americans. We have both "it's thundering" and "it's lightninging" in Portuguese. Yes, it also sounds somewhat silly to say "lightninging", so we go ham and say even weirder stuff.
