General Knox's Armory DLC was probably the best thing about Borderlands 1. I played the hell outta that.

If you like the first one, then go for it. The game is not particularly fun.

The first one is the only one I've played. I snagged it on a NewEgg deal for maybe $5 several years ago. It was fun, but I didn't care enough about the story to bother with the sequel. I've heard good things about this "Handsome Jack" though.

Funkmon is right when he says the story isn't exactly complex. What makes the Borderlands truly amazing isn't the story as a whole it's the characters in the story. The characters and their development is what makes the game (and game play). And almost every single character in Borderlands 2 was memorable to me. I hardly even remember who the bad guys were in Borderlands 1.

The story is irrelevant. I don't even know it. (reply)

I've played all the games, and I seriously could not tell you the story of Borderlands 2. I've played it like 5 times, including the DLC.

But if you had fun with the guns and crap on the original, then buy the Handsome collection. You will have fun with that.

I highly recommend the XBone version of Borderlands. It's plays so much better. Sure it's not Borderlands 1, but if you are going to play the second one do it. It also comes with all of the expansions including the holiday specific ones.

Man, it's only $24 for XBL gold members, too. If I hadn't just bought a car, I might be tempted to snag it. Going to have to keep that budget tight for a while, though :p
